West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations for taking admission into undergraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Medical/Dental and Pharmacy in universities/colleges in West Bengal.

Paper Pattern for WBJEE:

Students of West Bengal Higher Secondary Education & Central ISC Board can take up this entrance exam. West Bengal state government controlled centralized test for many institution private and government- engineering colleges. Students who have completed their 10+2 can apply for the WBJEE entrance exam. West Bengal offers various professional courses in various fields- engineering, technology, architecture.

Students who applied for WBJEE JEM 2012 entrance exam are hereby informed that the Joint Entrance Examination Authority had made some changes in theWBJEE 2012 Examination Pattern.  Below are listed the changes made in theWBJEE 2012 paper pattern.

Changes WBJEE JEM 2012 Entrance Test Question Paper Pattern:

·  All the questions in each paper will be of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)type and must be answered in the OMR sheet provided. No short

       descriptive type questions will be there like last years.

 

·  For  Mathematics and  Biological Sciences papers -  total number of  questions will be 80 (eighty) in each  paper, out of which questions bearing sl. no.

       1 to 60  will carry 1 (one) mark each and questions bearing sl. no. 61 to 80  will carry  2 (two) marks each.

 

·  Physics and Chemistry combined paper will consist of  80 (eighty) no. of questions out of which questions bearing sl. no. 1 to 40 will be from the

       subject Physics and questions bearing sl. no. 41 to 80 will be from the subject Chemistry. Questions bearing sl. no.1 to 30 and sl. no. 41 to 70 will

        carry 1 (one) mark each, whereas questions bearing sl. no. 31 to 40 and 71 to 80 will carry 2 (two) marks each.

 

·  There will be 4 (four) answering options for each question amongst which only one would be correct. More than one answer/response indicated against

        one question will be treated as wrong/incorrect answer/ response.

 

·  For each incorrect answer/response, 33.33% of mark(s) allotted to the corresponding question will be deducted from the total marks secured by the     candidate.

Eligibility Criteria for WBJEE:

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) entrance exam which is held every year. Candidates must have to apply and qualify in the WBJEE entrance exam in order to take admission into Engineering/Medical institutes in West Bengal.West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2012 entrance exam is conducted for taking admission into various professional courses in various fields of Engineering /Architecture/ Technology / Medical / Dental and Pharmacy in various Universities/Colleges in West Bengal. Before applying for theWBJEE entrance exam candidates must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria for WBJEE

(1) The applicant must be a citizen of India and must have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination

(a) For B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. –

General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories)

(b) For Pharmacy –

General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).

(c) For Marine Engineering –

At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together and 50% marks in English either in 10th standard or in (10+2) standard.

(d) For MBBS* and BDS* –

General candidates must secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together (40% for SC/ ST candidates) and 30% marks in English (for all categories)

(2) In addition to above candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below –

· BE/B.Tech/B.Arch. – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Vernacular or any other 5th subject.

· MBBS*/BDS* – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Vernacular or any other 5th subject.

· Pharmacy – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English, and Vernacular or any other 5th subject.

(3) For MBBS* and BDS* courses in addition to aforesaid eligibility criteria, the general candidates must have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST) in the Joint Entrance Examination, West Bengal.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2012 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2012 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

 

Age Restriction: 

Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2012. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2012.

How to Apply:

 WBJEE is administered by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations for taking admission into engineering degree colleges and medical colleges respectively. It was started in the year 1962 with an objective to conduct a common entrance exam for students to take admission into the colleges in West Bengal state.  

To reduce the stress and expenditure of the candidates, a single entrance exam was set up for those who want to take up engineering/medical as there career choice. Based on the performance in theWBJEE entrance exam candidates will be allowed to take admission into the state colleges.
